Unexpected Love Contest! (UPDATED)Hello members!
Our group :iconSoul-Poets: is having a big poetry contest revolving around the concept of unexpected love. Love between two beings that we (or your characters) wouldn't expect. It doesn't have to be a strict serious kind of poem, it can be fun as well. Just have fun and let your creative juices flow with this subject!
All submissions for the contest will be put into one folder called Unexpected Love Contest. This contest will be running until March 31st 11:59pm MST time, after that the submissions will be closed.
-You must be a member of #Soul-Poets to enter, joining the group is automatically accepted.
-You can only submit 2 contest entries
-The submission entry must be made for this specific contest, it cannot be made earlier than January 1st.
-You may submit any poem of any length that you choose, however if you choose a format of poetry that has strict rules then it will be judged accordingly (i.e. haiku)
Michael's (Evanescencesithlord6) Portfolio of 2011Hello everyone in the Soul Poets group!
My name is Michael, and I'm a musician, and writer! I mostly write for the purpose of song creation.
A lot of times I write lyrics, for songs... But any poems I write turn in to lyrics,
So basically I'm always writing something I can sing. I've always been a musician, and music is my form of art.
But I've also spent a long time writing too... Can't sing too many songs without words, so that's where that comes in.
Writing has really been, as cliche as it sounds, a huge therapeutic process for me.
I've been through some really dark things, and instead of going completely insane, or checking in with a shrink,
I've written and dreamed, and played music (Those are strictly my results, if you have issues, and you need help,
please get it!) I'm pretty strong willed, so that's why that works for me...
My life long dream is to be a singer! Rock Star status!
It's coming close! I'm so excited that hopefully life can start shining bright, and I have my writi
Mini Group Icon Contest! CLOSED!!!Hello everyone!
CLOSED!!! Voting in process.
Only 1 day left to enter!!! Tomorrow I will be closing the contest, the folder, voting and posting the winners!
I will include a feature of all the entries and participants as well.
If there is a tie, and I can't seem to decide, I will hold a public vote and let you decide between the ones I am stuck on.
Have a lovely day!
Don't forget the latest prompt was also posted just two days ago. "The Poetical Condition" You have until the 11th of Feb to write for it.
Because of the great response to the last journal, I have decided to host the MINI GROUP ICON CONTEST!!!
I have very little idea what I want the new icon to look like, so feel free to let your imaginations soar!
I was thinking something a little more mature and classy, but who knows, you could design something totally different and I could love it! Get creative. All I ask (and I feel like this is silly to say) is that the icon contain the group name (I know, duh).
Love Letter to Yourself Contest, CLOSED!!! Edit: This contest is now officially closed! Thank you to everyone who entered. Please scroll down for the final prize list as well as run time for voting. We will be working hard to narrow down the amazing entries. Winners will be posted no later than March 15th. However, if we come to a conclusion before that, I will post the winner's blog early. Thanks again to all who participated and donated prizes!
Edit: Only three days left to enter! Enter while you can!
Scroll down for updated prize list. Seriously, we have tons of awesome prizes. Thank you to everyone who's donated!

Okay, so it is February, and what is in February? Valentines day!
We are sure to see at least a zillion variations on the valentine concept in prompts and contests. Some people adore the day, some hate it and some, like myself, just think it's stupid. So we'll see the

Ring-a-Ring O'RosesTwo little children are playing in the garden
Singing old carols, of old, past times.
Their bare feet dancing between the dead leaves,
Rounding and rounding in the garden.
Hands chained, little dresses floating,
Jailed by the high stone walls.
Spring to Autumn, flowers bloom and leaves fall,
Worry them not a sole thing.
Like an illusion waving they are there,
At day or night, hot or cold.
One is brunette, the other's hair is gold.
Then they stopped, 'cause I stood there.
Icy blue eyes, the ghosts looked at me
And with a smile, invited me to play.
Too Good to be TrueToo good to be true
A poem by Cassidy
My heart pounds inside my chest
And I try so hard to make it stop
I don't know if it's for the best
Or if I'm just way off guard
But I can't stop
I refuse to believe
That what you said
Was truly for me
I want to ask
But I'm too afraid
I've been through so much
I'd be so ashamed
So I breathe in
And try to stop
The pound of my heart
Though it takes a lot
Now I feel so mad
And also so sad
I just accepted you
Why'd you do this again?
Giving me false hope
When it's much too good
For it to be true
Me and you
We All Were and Will Be GalaxiesAt an intersection with roads to nowhere,
A collision of essences occurred.
Though each spirit kept their shape,
Streamers of smoke trailed behind
Now entwined in threads of fate
No one ever truly escaped the crash.
They fell, fell, fell down
A bolt of stardust spiraled down into a mortal,
Hand-me-down essentia from another lifetime,
Recrudesce to the sequence of trials
Where raw spirits, disarrayed from descent,
Become crafted souls
I am the vessel, the shell,
A hull of flesh with strings on the inside,
Pulled by intangible fingers,
A visage for wise eyes to withdraw into.
Weathered by time, the lenses cloud,
Outsides callus, insides atrop
The Meadow's GraveIn the meadow:
Behind the meadow:
And, as the wind blows,
Voices flow in the air,
Hands pull your wrists,
They guide you to their home:
Lonely grave in the golden meadow.
Eternal silence in the golden meadow.
Dream forever, o grave's resident.
May one day the golden grass turns red again...

Fortunately, we hadn't yet been quite as devastated by our annual droughts as those in Oklahoma and Texas. Rumors would occasionally drift in with a tumbleweed traveler about how bad the deep South had dried up into nothing but an old dusty lake bed, but these flashes of news were too few and too far between to be counted on as up to date or even true.
